Working for survival

Women join in the strike in support of their husbands

From where I stand, the Lonmin strike was no way to produce the exact demands the workers were striking for.

I write with conviction that the Lonmin mine owners themselves know that majority of the country’s lower class populace (more in particular the mine workers themselves), work for survival thus there is no way that they can strike for two months straight non-stop. Had the workers continued striking for even longer they would not have enough money to sustain and or/ support their families. It is no secret that most of the country’s lower class populace earn to as close as nothing. Therefore it makes it difficult for a lower class citizen to save from their monthly salary.

Love After War

Often, women are seen reconciling with their abusive partners and when asked why, the common answer has always been 'because I love him'. Therefore, question hereof is, is love alone worth sustaining a relationship even when it is evident that the partnership in between is not working?

Winter Ride Memories

source: flickr.com

Over the past 4 years I have been a daily user of the most badmouthed public transport industry. Moreover, many of you will identify with me when I say; sometimes taking a taxi is the worst ever form of transport one could ever think of. If it is not road rage amongst the taxi drivers themselves, it’s their impatient tendencies of driving on the yellow lane, to their lack of communication skills treating passengers as if they mean nothing, these to name a few. Putting aside the fact that one rotten potato spoils the whole bag, the expressed view in the article does not in any way account to every taxi driver in the country, for the article identifies the selective few taxi drivers who abide by the law and do not treat passengers as if they are nothing.

The Prelude

A few months back, last August to be precise (a month before my 22nd year birthday),  a ‘good’ friend of mine asked me what I’d like as a gift, mind you that was at first. As a result I didn’t know what to say. Well not that I didn’t know what I wanted as a gift, but the question here was; do I tell them I want an iPad? I mean just because they offered me an opportunity to tell them what I wanted as a gift, it did not necessarily mean that all of a sadden they have millions.
