Dream comes through

Over years as a young and upcoming house deejay, it has always been my lifetime dream to have one of my mixes air played on a radio station and Saturday night, 02 November, 2013 was the night.

Like any other day, I am minding my own business on the net communicating with other house music lovers via the social network, twitter, suddenly an interesting tweet comes in, it is from Benjamin Holtam, https://twitter.com/benholtam, it reads, “can you contact me please fam? I'd like to feature you on my radio show. Check it here…” For a second I think, well it’s just one of the million scams rotating on the social network. Nevertheless, this one isn’t it, as the build to the story it is yet another attention-grabbing tweet, @Benholtam requests that I follow him back so he can send me a direct message, now excited I do exactly as per request.

To cut the long story short, the rest is history as the day turns out to be a day where my dream comes through. Later that day Holtman lives up to his promise and as per our conversation earlier on the day he features one of mixes on his evening show, Deep & Soulful House, an evening radio show on CNB Radio, a Cornwall, UK based online radio station. Holtman’s show is 70% music and 30% talk; it goes on air every Saturday evening between 17:00 – 19:00 GMT/ 19:00 – 21:00 CAT.

Having being my first ever feature on an online radio station and one outside African boarders, it is no doubt that hard work and dedication pays off. Following the successful feature, I am proud to announce that Holtman has granted me yet another opportunity to do another mix that he will feature on the show as a guest mix and perhaps become a regular quest deejay to station.

Furthermore, it will be unwise of me not to acknowledge Charles Mmofya (https://twitter.com/mor3fir3) as the one person who earlier on this year introduced me to podomatic, an online podcast service where I post monthly releases of deep house mixes, as it is through this channel that Holtam became aware of the work that I do and gained interest to invite us to do a special mix for his show. As of yet no dates have been set for my next feature on the station, however, I will be posting more details about the building to it.
